The representatives of “The Max Foundation” Charitable Fund Erin Lindsay Schneider and Sukhrob Saliev today were hosted by Hematology center named after Prof. R. Yeolyan. Short speeches were made by the representatives of the Fund, as well as the doctors of Hematology center. The patients’ active participation showed their great trust, interest and strong support for the GIPAP programme.
During the speeches were highlighted such important facts as the story of "The Max Foundation", their effective activity in Armenia over the past 14 years and the major significance of "GLIVEC".
It is worth mentioning that the GIPAP programme has been operating in Armenia since 2003. Nowadays, over 247 patients are included in the programme (201 patients with chronic myeloid leukemia, 17 with gastrointestinal stromal tumor, 17 with Ph+ acute lymphoblastic leukemia and 3 with hypereosinophilic syndrome).
“GLIVEC is quite expensive drug", said the director of Armenian Hematology Center Prof. Smbat Daghbashyan, “however, the Foundation fully cares about the free provision of it, which makes about 2000-2300 packs of GLIVEC per year. Today our patients have the opportunity to live a full life in due to “The Max Foundation” charity and the great efforts of our trained doctors”.
