The department includes the following units: donors’ registry, blood components processing. The highly qualified professionals: doctors, highly skilled nurses with the appropriate certificates for their position, work in the department.
The department of blood components storage provides the following activities:
- Admission and examination of blood donors
- Collecting, processing, and storage of blood and blood components
- Rh(D)-antigen immunization of donors
- Collection and storage of anti-D plasma
- X-ray radiation and pathogen inactivation of blood components
- Collection of peripheral stem cells
- Organizing mobile blood donations
The following blood components are prepared in the department:
- Red blood cell mass
- Washed red blood cell mass
- Leukofiltered erythrocyte suspensions
- Radiated red blood cell mass
- Fresh frozen plasma (taken from 1 bag of whole blood or by plasmapheresis)
- Pathogen inactivated fresh frozen plasma
- Cryoprecipitate
- Radiated platelets mass (from 1 bag of whole blood)
- Platelet concentrate (by the method of apheresis)
